submission guidelines


 


 



Free Flight Quarterly welcomes and invites contributions in the form of articles and letters on any subject related to free flight from anywhere in the world.  Electronic submissions are preferred.

The philosophy of the editors is that FFQ should be a forum for the sharing of knowledge, and robust discussion, which means that material submitted does not necessarily have to agree with the views of the original author.

Articles can cover a range of subjects including technical matters, plans/construction details on individual models,  history, innovation, [auto]biographical, reports of national and/or international competitions, etc.

Letters to the Editor should be restricted to a maximum of one A4 page.

Ideally, material should be in English but the editorial team can translate to English from French, German, Italian or Spanish.

FFQ reserves the right to edit submissions so that they accord with the magazine's format.

GENERAL

Free Flight Quarterly uses Times New Roman 10-point for the main text, but material may be formatted in any True Type font using standard PC word-processing programs such as MSWord 97, Word for Windows, Word Perfect 5.0, Word 6.0 etc or below (and Mac equivalents).

Articles may be submitted in hard copy, but must be typewritten or word-processed.




GRAPHICS (PHOTOGRAPHS/PLANS/GRAPHS)

HARD COPY
Graphics submitted in hard copy form should be of good quality, i.e. sharp and clear to enable best reproduction via scanner.

DISK
Material can be sent on 3 1/2" floppy, PC100 zip®, CD.

ELECTRONIC
Photographs (colour or black and white) should be scanned at minimum 180dpi, and saved in .tif or .jpg format.  Do not make any enhancements to graphics after scanning.

Plans should be scanned at minimum 400dpi - and submitted in .tif, .wmf or .eps format.

Mathematical formulae should be treated as image files and formatted in Times New Roman 10-point.

Colour/black & white
Free Flight Quarterly is a black and white publication.  Please do not convert colour to black and white or greyscale, or make any adjustments before submission




Copyright remains with the author, but FFQ reserves the right to allow reproduction of content, provided full acknowledgment of the source material is made.  FFQ also reserves the right to publish submitted material on its website.
